This policy explains what fanout collects, why, and how you can control it. fanout is a cross-posting tool: you write a post once, and we publish or schedule it to the social accounts you connect. We also offer AI post suggestions, a comments inbox, analytics, and media uploads. This policy applies to everyone who uses fanout at tryfanout.com.
What we collect
- Account info from Google when you sign in: your name, email address, and avatar.
- Identifiers and handles for the social accounts you connect. The platform access tokens themselves are held by our provider Zernio, not stored by us.
- The content, drafts, and media you create or upload in fanout.
- Billing info from Polar, our payment processor: your name, email, plan, and subscription status. We never see your full card number.
- Usage data such as logs, IP address, browser, and the pages you visit.
We collect most of this directly from you — when you sign in, connect an account, write a post, or upgrade your plan. Some of it, like usage data, is collected automatically as you use fanout.
How we use it
We use this information to run fanout: publishing your posts where and when you tell us to, processing billing through Polar, providing support when you contact us, keeping the service secure and free of abuse, and understanding how people use fanout so we can improve it. We do not sell your data, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
AI features
When you ask fanout for post suggestions, the draft text you send is processed by OpenAI (gpt-4.1-mini) to generate a response. We don’t use your content to train any models. Avoid including passwords or other secrets in text you send for suggestions.
Who we share it with
The social platforms you connect (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, Telegram) receive whatever you choose to publish through them. We may also share information when required by law enforcement.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, so fanout keeps working the way you left it. If you disconnect a social account, its access token is deleted at the provider immediately — we don’t keep a copy. Posts and media stay in fanout until you delete them yourself. If you ask us to delete your account, email support@tryfanout.com and we’ll complete the deletion within 30 days. Polar keeps billing records for as long as the law requires, even after your fanout account is gone.
Your controls and rights
You’re in control of your data. You can disconnect a social account, delete posts or media, or cancel your plan at any time from within fanout — none of that requires contacting us. To request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account entirely, email support@tryfanout.com. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR or similar laws to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your data, and to object to or restrict certain uses of it. We’ll respond to any request within a reasonable time.
Cookies
We only use cookies needed to keep you signed in and to collect basic, anonymous usage metrics. We don’t use advertising trackers.
YouTube and Google
If you connect YouTube, your use is also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You can revoke fanout’s access to your Google account any time from Google security settings.
Children
fanout isn’t directed at anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Security
We encrypt data in transit with TLS and rely on our providers’ encryption at rest. Access to your data inside fanout is limited to what each system needs to do its job. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will tell you if something goes wrong.
International transfers
fanout and the providers we use are based in different countries, so your data is processed in the EU and US as part of running the service. We only work with providers who apply appropriate safeguards to data they process for us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll notify you by email or in-app notice, and continuing to use fanout after a change means you accept the update.
