Paste or type your Threads post to see how many characters you have used out of 500, and how many are left.
0 / 500
500 characters remaining
The count is by code points, the same as fanout uses before publishing. Threads's own counter may differ slightly. Details are in the character limits guide.
Threads is text-first like X but tied to your Instagram identity, and fanout treats it as its own draft rather than a copy of your X post. Write a Threads-length version, attach an image if you want one, and schedule it to publish under your linked Instagram account. Replies land in your comments inbox, and analytics on views and engagement are included on every fanout plan, alongside the rest of your connected networks.

fanout enforces 500 characters per Threads post, counted as Unicode code points. A post can carry up to 10 images.
Yes. A simple emoji is one code point, so it counts as one here. Emoji built from several parts (skin tones, flags, family emoji) are several code points and count as several. Threads may weight characters differently, so leave a little room if you are close to the cap.
fanout splits the text into a reply thread (up to 10 posts), breaking at paragraphs, lines, sentences or words, and publishes it as a chain. Posting by hand, you need to cut it yourself; the thread splitter does this for you.
It is the count fanout uses when it checks a post, based on Threads's documented limit as of 2026-10-25. Networks change limits and count some characters differently, so treat a post within a few characters of the cap as unconfirmed until Threads accepts it.
