How to post to Bluesky and Threads at the same time
Bluesky and Threads do not take quite the same post. Bluesky stops text at 300 characters while Threads allows 500, and the media or thread rules differ too.
Bluesky vs Threads: what's different

| Character cap | 300 | 500 |
| Images per post | 4 | 10 |
| Needs media | No | No |
| Long text becomes a thread | Yes | Yes |
| Comments inbox in fanout | Yes | Yes |
| Analytics in fanout | No | Yes |
What fits both
- Text: while both networks use the master draft, the counter holds you to the stricter cap, 300 characters (Bluesky). Give Threads its own tab to use its full 500.
- Images: the lower cap wins, so 4 (Bluesky) for a shared set, against 10 on Threads.
- Media: neither network requires it, so text-only posts are fine. One video per post, and it cannot be mixed with images.
- Over-limit text: it becomes a reply thread on both, up to 10 posts each. Because the caps differ, the part counts differ too.
Post to both in fanout
- Connect Bluesky and Threads. Each login happens on the network's own permission screen.
- Open the composer, write the master draft and select both accounts.
- Check each tab. Both inherit the master text until you edit one; AI tailoring suggests a version for each, which you review before anything is published.
- Attach media once. The same files go to both networks that accept them.
- Publish now, or pick a date and time to schedule it to both.
Tips for this pair
