How to manage multiple social media accounts from one place

Once you have a personal account, a company page and a client or two, the hard part is not posting. It is keeping track of which account is which and choosing the right ones each time.

Several accounts on one network

You can connect more than one account on the same network, for example two X accounts or a personal LinkedIn profile next to a company page. Each one is connected through the network's own permission screen, and each shows up as its own account in fanout.

How many accounts you can connect in total depends on your plan. See the plan limits section below.

Group accounts into profiles

A profile is a named group of accounts, usually one brand or one client. When you create a profile you choose whether it is personal or a client profile. An account belongs to one profile or to none.

You can move an account between profiles from its settings. Deleting a profile does not disconnect anything: its accounts stay connected and become unassigned.

Profiles are used across the app. The composer groups accounts by profile, and the analytics and comments pages can be filtered to one profile.

Per-account settings

Each account has a settings panel on the Profiles page with these options.

Choosing accounts for a post

In the composer, the account picker lists your accounts and lets you search them by handle or name and filter by network. When you have profiles, accounts are grouped under each profile, and you can select a whole group at once. Without profiles they are grouped by network.

You can save a selection as a named set and apply it again later, which helps if you often post to the same group. Accounts that need reconnecting, or that are over your plan's limit, are listed but cannot be selected.

Turn off "Selected by default" on accounts you only post to occasionally, so a routine post does not go there by accident.

Brand kit: one identity per profile

A profile can hold a brand kit: one avatar, name, bio and link. The idea is to keep the same identity across the accounts in that profile. You save the kit once and fanout shows you what to do for each account.

How it is applied depends on the network. For WhatsApp, Google Business Profile and Discord, fanout pushes the bio, link and avatar to the account when you press Apply. For the other networks, the networks do not let apps edit a profile, so fanout gives you a checklist: you copy each item into the network yourself and mark it done.

The avatar can be a PNG, JPEG or WebP file. Check your result on each network afterwards, since each one crops and limits profile fields in its own way.

Plan limits

The number of connected accounts is set by your plan: Starter allows up to 5, Marketer allows up to 15, Operator allows up to 50. The number counts accounts, not networks, so two accounts on one network count as two.

If you are over your plan's limit, the extra accounts are marked as over the limit and cannot be posted to until you disconnect some or change plan. See the pricing page for current plans.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect more than one account on the same network?

Yes. You can connect several accounts on one network and choose which of them receive each post.

What is a profile in fanout?

A named group of accounts, usually one brand or client. It is a personal or client profile, and deleting it leaves the accounts connected.

Does the brand kit change my profile on every network?

Only on WhatsApp, Google Business Profile and Discord, where fanout can update it for you. For other networks it gives you a checklist to apply by hand.

Does changing an account's name in fanout change it on the network?

No. The name is a label inside fanout and does not change anything on the network.
